This is the map i wish i had my whole life. I’m a business traveler and i always bring a fly rod with me on business trips. The problem is figuring out where to go and the time it takes just figuring out where to park a rental car. it’s takes hours of internet research just to figure out the closest fishable river …that has public access. I have wasted time doing it, hundreds of times. Then you have to figure out where to park your rental car in a public area. And you only have a couple hours of evening hatch after work. Well, after 2 million miles on United; 25+ years of hard business travel (and fly fishing vacation travel) i have accumulated over 200 of my favorite fly fishing places on my Garmin GPS.
The download is a zip of a KML file and instructions. All mapping programs support KML files. It’s easiest to import this file from Google Earth. Once imported you’ll have all Google Earth’s features including a satellite view and mapping capability.
To import into Google Maps with a web browser:
here are the steps to open a KML file in Google Maps:
- Open Google My Maps in your browser.
- Create a new map.
- Click on Import.
- Navigate to your KML file and select it.
- The KML file will be imported into your map.
Most of the locations are in the US including an extensive list of DIY places in CA, MT, WY, CO, UT, HI and ID but also in New Zealand. Free Updates from me forever as long as i keep updating this list.
